This brand new application gives every citizen the ability to see how their representatives vote on the issues so they can stay informed.

Being politically aware has never been more important, not to mention more popular with the American public. But with so many important bills being proposed and passed, it can be difficult for voters to understand the issues, much less find which of their local representatives' views best reflects their own.

With the Visible Vote application for the iPhone, Blackberry, and Facebook, now it's simple for users to find which legislator's opinion most closely matches their own, and for citizens to make their voices and opinions on key issues heard.

How Visible Vote Works for Voters

Upon downloading the Visible Vote app to Facebook or an iPhone or Blackberry, users are asked for their zip code and state. The app automatically brings up a list of representatives with up-to-date statistics on their voting history and approval rating.

Users have the option of reading a bill, another feature of Visible Vote, and voting on the bill themselves. They can compare their votes to others, including legislators, making it easy to compare candidates and make an informed decision during elections.

Once a week Visible Vote sends a record of all recent user votes to the appropriate legislator, so he or she knows how voters feel about their views on the issues. Representatives can also see how their approval rating is faring on Visible Vote.

Features of the Visible Vote App

  • Users can add job approval ratings for everyone from local legislators to the President, as well as leave comments on bills
  • Users can send a letter to their representative via Facebook or their iPhone or Blackberry
  • Users can read an entire bill via Visible Vote
  • Users can easily and automatically keep track of candidates voting history and compare it to their own opinions, making it easy to cast an informed vote during election time
  • Visible Vote provides legislators with information on how citizens are voting, and how their constituents feel about their views and actions
  • Users can easily find all legislators with Twitter accounts and follow them
  • Users can discuss issues with other Visible Vote customers
  • Visible Vote provides users with the latest media updates on the different bills

Visible Vote App looks like a great application. It's great to see this type of app expanding into the mobile market. I recently wrote about free web based options for tracking votes, donations and media activity. If interested, see http://www.bytesizeupdates.com/243.

Hopefully, this category of apps will continue to grow as it is becoming increasingly important for us to stay informed.
